Me no likey the heat

Here I am in Flensburg, one of the northernmost cities in Germany. Right below Denmark, with the Baltic Sea (Ostsee as we call it) to the east.  I expect wind and weather in the sense that it’d be a cooler, at times rainier, climate.

Alas!

The past few days have been quiet hot. Mind you, the air does seem to attract a few thunder and lightning occurences, which I am rather fond off.  But the humid air that is like a feverish persons breath on my skin… that I absolutely do not enjoy.  I’ve always said that I prefer the cold over the heat, after all, you can put on as many layers as you like, but you can only take so many off.

With me on the top floor, it’s quite possible I have yet to see the brunt of what a hot summer is.  Indeed, considering June has merely started, I cannot assume that I am experiencing a typical summer of my harbour city.  What to do, I wonder.

The last two nights I slept with my windows open, and yesterday I had 2 windows open almost the entire day so that a breeze could come through.  Yes, thankfully, the sea does carry some favourable winds that help with the cool down.  Thank goodness for windows that open all the way up (something I missed during my Canadian stay :P ).

However, that is not to say I generally hate the sun.  No such thing, and I do enjoy soaking up some rays.  I just find humidity and too much heat a tad horrible.  Between you and me, the grand canyon that is my cleavage does definitely hate hot days.  Gets too sweaty too fast, and when I am nowhere close to being able to change or shower, it tends to itch and burn as a consequence… *sigh*

You know, it would be nice if I had a balcony.  Or lived on groundlevel.  Or at least had a barbecue… damn I feel like barbecueing. Some grilled salmon and baked taters.  Or at least some steak… I best crash my mother’s birthday party, I’m sure they have one of their awesome BBQs going on then…

Right now I am living from what can be eaten as it, needs to be baked in an oven, or cooked/fried in pots & pan.  Which is still a larger selection than what I had 2 months ago, mind ya.  time to restock my freezing compartment with some sort of ice cream.
